Vets adopting dogs – or is it the other way around?

When we hear about returning veterans, with scars both physical and emotional, being helped by dogs, it really drives home what many of us have come to believe: pets help us every bit as much as we help them.

An animal connecting with a human always makes a touching story. You’re probably reading this now because you’ve had that experience personally. But people coming home from war don’t just have a puppy jump in their lap when they get off the plane. There’s a lot more to it.

Does a soldier need a service dog? A companion? Is there something about their situation that makes a dog of a certain disposition important for a match?

As part of our mission to connect dogs in the most need with the people who need them, the Lynn Foundation is committed to supporting organizations that match vets with dogs. You can contribute to our efforts, or encourage a veteran you know to find an organization that can help with some helpful resources from VeteranAid.org.
